Grace Slonim

Grace Slonim is interested in how art professions are shaped and pursued by individuals and the sector at large. Grace’s current work as PhD Candidate and Teaching Associate at Monash University stems from this curiosity. Her PhD aims to map the landscape of funding for the visual arts sector, with a particular focus on investigating the negative space of the funding model: If sector-wide sentiment holds firmly the belief that there is a scarcity of funding available, her research is focussed on understanding how creative practitioners might still be able to afford to make art within this environment. Further to this Grace has extensive experience across the arts sector, from working in large institutions to experimental artist hubs. In all that she does Grace works to ensure that art markers are equipped to pursue their creative practice, particularly in support of the development of their profession.
